FAQs
1 / What are alternative proteins? Why do they matter?
Alternative proteins are foods that contain protein from non-animal sources, such as plants, fungi, and animal cells, and they are designed to taste the same or better than conventional animal products. They are a sustainable alternative to conventional meat as they require less natural resources and produce fewer emissions! Learn more about alt proteins in our about section!
2 / Do I have to be a STEM major to get involved?
Students with any major and interest is welcome to become a part of our organization. Some of our current members are majoring in subjects ranging from psychology and political science to biology and computer science! Our different committees allow students with diverse strengths (design?) and interests (consulting?) to get involved!
3 / Is APP only at UPenn?
The UPenn Alt Protein Project is only one of many chapters under the Good Food Institute across the country! Learn more about GFI's chapters here!
